SEND offer

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Support is led in school by our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo) Kirsty Mills.

Both our SENDCo and all members of our staff regularly receive training to support pupils with SEND in school.

The school regularly reviews and updates the Accessibility Plan to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all pupils. This can be seen on Our Policies page.

What if my child can’t attend school during the Covid Pandemic?

We are so happy to have everyone back at school with us and we hope this can continue throughout the year. In exceptional circumstances where your child cannot attend school due to isolating, quarantining or unforeseen changes in local restrictions we will continue to work closely with you to support your child’s education and welfare from home. This can be done in many ways, such as:

  • signposting to free educational resources e.g. BBC BitesizeOak AcademyOxford Owl etc.
  • regular updates on school websites and Twitter accounts.
  • personalised resources to meet learning needs shared electronically via email, Google Classroom or Tapestry, or in paper copy where required.
  • regular contact with the class teacher via telephone, email, Dojo or Google.

If your child has Special Educational Needs you can also expect:

  • weekly telephone contact with one of the Trust SENDCos. SENDCos may also link in some external agencies with families to provide additional advice and resources if this is agreed.
  • adaptations to the ways in which children can present their work (access to IT may be facilitated in the home);
  • more detailed instructions (access to remote learning platforms will be rehearsed in school);
  • providing parents with suggestions to make tasks more practical in nature;
  • alternative work which is targeted at their level of need where they may not ordinarily access curriculum subjects at age expected levels.
  • any EHC plans due for annual review will still be completed within the statutory timeframe, remotely where required.
